I think it’s a rule somewhere that all internet wrestling personalities need to make a list of their 10 favorite matches. We all have our own preferences about what we like in wrestling so everyone’s list is going to be unique, this list is not the 10 best wrestling matches of all time, they’re just my 10 favorite so please don’t threaten me okay. So before I get more off topic, here are JackDownVSRaw’s 10 favorite wrestling matches ever.

#10 The Young Bucks vs The Lucha Brothers All Out 2019: So let’s makes it very obvious from the very start that I am in fact quite of fan of “the flips” give me all the flips, give me ludicrous spots, give me a Canadian Destroyer off a ladder, seriously that was a dream spot people questioned if we’d ever see and it almost got lost in all the cool spots of this match. So the Bucks of Youth and the Brothers of Lucha had an “Escalera De La Muerte” match for the AAA Tag Team Championship, and as far as ladder matches go, and this is not the last ladder match on here, not at all, this one is the “flippy cool spot fest” kind of ladder match and not the brutally beating your opponent with a ladder one, oh we’ll get to that.

#9 Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant WrestleMania III: Yes I’m aware of the striking contrast in styles and we’re only two matches in but I like wrestling of all styles, a variety of wrestling is what makes it fun for me. So if the last match was a bunch of freak athletes doing freak athletic things, this match is more of two strong guys going at it, only one of them is a literal giant. This match set the standard for a world champion defending his title against a seemingly unbeatable challenger, Andre, my long lost father, looks great all through the match, he’s dominating the Hulkster to a shocked crowd, every time Hogan starts to make a comeback, Andre is right there to brutally strike him down, until Hogan finally manages to hit the most iconic move in history when he body slammed Andre to seal the most important victory in wrestling history.

#8 AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels Unbreakable 2005: I talked about this match in great detail in this blog before but let me just say that this match lives up to all the hype it has ever gotten and ever will get. You have three distinct styles of wrestlers here showcasing just how unique the X Division was, Joe has the power, Styles has the athleticism and Daniels has the technical ability that won him the championship in the first place. By the end of the match, all three wrestlers showcase each of those three skills and it ends perfectly to advance the story around the X Division Championship and man it’s just perfect.

#7 Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega Wrestle Kingdom 11: Okada and Omega have had multiple incredible matches, and while the Dominion 2018 one is probably the best, it was their first encounter at Wrestle Kingdom 11 that made me fall in love with wrestling again. At the time I was a freshman in college and I had all but stopped watching wrestling, I was home on break staying up late one night when people kept hyping up Wrestle Kingdom, so I gave it a watch and, just, that feeling when I first watched this match was pure magic, it made me remember how incredible it can be to watch wrestling, and it’s the reason I fell right back in love with it, it would be a disgrace to not have it on this list.

#6 Edge & Christian vs The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz WrestleMania X-Seven: The image of Edge leaping off a ladder to spear Jeff Hardy while he was hanging on for dear life from the belts was one of the most iconic images of my childhood. These three teams who defined tag team wrestling for an entire generation went all out in the second ever TLC match, it's everything you want from one of these matches, it’s used the tables, ladders, and even the chairs to equal importance making the stipulation feel worthwhile, if somehow you haven’t seen this match, you’re missing out, please watch it now

#5 Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit Royal Rumble 2001: Yeah it took me this long to put a Jericho match on here, you should all be very proud of me. Remember the flippy type ladder match I mentioned earlier? Well this is the opposite, it’s two guys going out there and hitting each other with a ladder really hard. The spot where Benoit dives outside the ring to be met by a chair shot from Jericho is just unbelievable, and yet it’s gets beat out by the image of Jericho locking in the Walls of Jericho on top of the ladder, using the ladder to damage Benoif’s back further, it’s just a brutal match that concluded a brutal fraud and saw Jericho leave as the new Intercontinental champion.

#4 Sasha Banks vs Bayley NXT Takeover Brooklyn: Fun fact about this match, it happened on my birthday, and what a birthday present this was. It cannot be said enough how important NXT’s Four Horsewomen were to the advancement of women’s wrestling. Sasha, Bayley, Charlotte and Becky Lynch all deserve to be in the Hall of Fame for revolutionizing women’s wrestling to a point that nobody thought would be possible, and this match is a big reason why women’s wrestling is where it’s at today. It’s an absolute legend of a match showcasing the phenomenal chemistry between Sasha and Bayley and the hot Brooklyn NXT crowd were all in on it making it all the much more emotional and perfect.

#3 The Young Bucks vs Hangman Page & Kenny Omega: Revolution 2020: AEW is to tag team wrestling what 2015 NXT is to women’s wrestling, it made us remember how excellent tag team wrestling can be. The story here of the crumbling relationship between The Elite combined with The Young Bucks desperate to prove they’re still the best tag team in the world, combined with the incredible jaw-dropping moves these guys are known for and a surprise twist at the end leads to, in my opinion, the greatest tag team match of all time.

#2 Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega: Wrestle Kingdom 12: If Omega and Okada from Wrestle Kingdom 11 made me fall in love with wrestling, This match at the next year’s Wrestle Kingdom made me more in love with wrestling than I had ever been. The buzz around Chris Jericho being in New Japan after almost 20 years of being exclusively a WWE superstar was something everyone was talking about. This match gave birth to AEW, and indirectly, it gave birth to JackDownVSRaw

#1 Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels: No Mercy 2008: This is probably the most obvious number one I’ve ever done. I will talk about this match until the day I die, it’s another one of the brutal ladder matches that concluded the greatest feud in wrestling history, a brilliant story told over months all concluding with two men clinging to the World Heavyweight Championship on top of the ladder, the u inquest ladder match ending, as a kid it blew my mind, and as an adult it still does every time I watch it, it’s just as good as wrestling can get for me, and it was the obvious choice for my favorite wrestling match of all time.
